Is it a cold or allergies?

Dr. Jim explains the difference!

Why am I sneezing and how long will it last?

Colds are caused by infectious viruses; allergies occur when our immune system responds to triggers such as pollens and molds.

With allergies, there is rarely a sore throat, not usually a cough and never fever, chills or general aches and pains. The itchy eyes that are very common with allergies, rarely occur with colds unless associated with a viral conjunctivitis (pink eye).

An allergic reaction lasts as long as the exposure to the allergen persists. A cold typically runs its course within 2 weeks.
